Donna Ambler Davis, P.C. is seeking an associate attorney with at least three years of legal experience to join our Chapel Hill family law practice. Family law experience is preferred, but we are also interested in experienced attorneys whose litigation, negotiation, writing, and client-management skills translate well to this work.

This role combines substantive work on senior attorneys' active cases with the opportunity to build and manage your own family law caseload. You will not be expected to arrive with a full book of business on day one. You will be expected to bring initiative, sound judgment, strong work habits, and a desire to grow.

• Manage assigned family law matters and develop strategies aligned with the facts, law, and client objectives.

• Assist senior attorneys with case analysis, research, discovery, drafting, hearing preparation, and trial preparation.

• Draft and review pleadings, motions, discovery, agreements, orders, correspondence, and other legal documents.

• Represent clients in negotiations, mediations, hearings, and trials consistent with your experience and assigned responsibilities.

• Communicate clearly with clients about options, strategy, risks, expectations, and next steps.

• Meet court and firm deadlines, maintain timely and accurate time entries, and collaborate effectively with attorneys and staff.

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school and an active North Carolina law license in good standing.

• At least three years of experience practicing law.

• Strong legal research, writing, negotiation, and oral advocacy skills.

• Knowledge of North Carolina court procedures and applicable ethical obligations.

• Professional, steady communication with clients experiencing stressful circumstances.

• Sound judgment, discretion, organization, and attention to detail.

• Ability to support senior attorneys while developing and managing your own matters.

• A team-oriented mindset, openness to feedback, and willingness to adapt.
