Posted 12 hours ago
At Phillips Law, we defend people when everything is on the line.
The clients we serve are not planning for the future. They are facing charges, investigations, warrants, or life-altering allegations. They are scared. Their families are overwhelmed. Their freedom, reputation, career, and future are at risk.
We exist to stand between clients and the power of the State.
We are seeking a disciplined, emotionally intelligent professional who can sit across from individuals and families during some of the most stressful moments of their lives — and guide them toward decisive action.
This is not transactional sales.
This is crisis leadership with accountability.
You must be able to manage urgency without creating panic. You must be able to project confidence without arrogance. You must be able to help people move forward when fear is clouding their judgment.
This is a performance-based role.
We track metrics.
We expect professionalism.
We expect growth.
Compensation: High performers in this role realistically earn $60,000–$125,000 annually. $60,000 Base with Performance Bonus Up to $125,000.
Required Application Exercise — The Cost of Waiting
As part of your application, you must submit a short written story in a cover letter about an individual who delayed hiring a criminal defense attorney — and the consequences that followed.
You may base this on a real situation (without identifying details) or create a fictional client (recommended).
Write this in narrative format (not bullet points).
Your story should include:
1. Who They Were
Stage of life
Career or background
Family situation
2. The Assumptions They Made
What they believed about their case
Why they delayed securing counsel
3. What Happened
The triggering event (arrest, indictment, warrant, missed deadline, police interview, etc.)
4. The Impact
Describe consequences such as:
Additional charges
Lost leverage in negotiations
Jail time that might have been avoided
Financial strain
Damage to reputation or career
Emotional toll on family
Outcomes that early legal representation could have prevented
Length: 300–700 words
Format: Narrative storytelling (not bullet points)
This exercise allows us to evaluate your judgment, emotional intelligence, and understanding of what is truly at stake in criminal defense.
Applications without this submission will not be considered.
This role is for professionals who want their work to matter.
You must care about performance.
You must care about improvement.
You must care about protecting people when the stakes are real.
If you are seeking comfort, this is not the right role.
If you are seeking growth, accountability, and meaningful impact — Phillips Law may be the place for you.
How to Apply
Submit:
Resume
Written Scenario (as outlined above)
Applications without the written exercise will not be considered.
The Opportunity
Every week, we speak with people who:
Think “this will blow over”
Believe talking to police will “clear things up”
Underestimate the seriousness of felony charges
Delay hiring counsel because they are in shock
Are more worried about cost than consequences
Your role is to help them see reality clearly — before a mistake makes their situation worse.
You will lead structured case strategy consultations, guide prospective clients through the engagement process under attorney supervision, and convert qualified leads into retained clients.
You do not provide legal advice.
You guide individuals through the decision to secure representation.
In criminal defense, hesitation can be catastrophic.
We help people act before it is too late.
Who Thrives at Phillips Law
You likely bring 3–5 years of consultative, high-trust sales or advisory experience.
Relevant backgrounds may include:
Legal intake or law firm consultation roles
Financial services or advisory environments
High-value professional services sales
Crisis-oriented client advisory roles
Military or law enforcement leadership transitioning to civilian roles
High-ticket consultative sales environments
But background matters less than mindset.
You:
Actively seek feedback and apply it
Take ownership of outcomes
Do not make excuses
Improve continuously
Maintain composure under pressure
Understand that clients are making emotional decisions under stress
Criminal defense is not about convenience.
It is about fear, urgency, and consequences.
You must be able to:
Listen deeply without interrupting
Identify unspoken concerns (fear of jail, public embarrassment, impact on family)
Respond with calm authority
Guide without manipulation
Hold space for difficult conversations involving arrest, addiction, violence allegations, or federal investigations
You create trust quickly — because time matters.
Professional Strength & Presence
You are comfortable discussing five-figure legal retainers with individuals who may feel financially strained.
You do not avoid hard truths.
You bring:
Strong listening and questioning skills
Confidence presenting structured engagement options
Discipline with follow-up and CRM systems
Comfort working within measurable performance standards
Professional accountability for your results
You guide.
You do not pressure.
You close with integrity.
